Solomon Islands Chess federation was established in 2008 when FIDE approved its membership in the General Assembly in Dresden, Germany. This surely is the 15th year of our establishment as a National Federation.
Our mission is to promote chess in the country at all levels in the society. We have involved in the FIDE Olympiad in 2014 in Tromso, Norway and supposed to go to the one in India but because of COVID 19 we did not attend in 2022. We are looking forward to attend this year’s Olympiad in Budapest, Turkey from 10th to 23rd September.
Our Honiara City Chess League 2024 will start after the National General Election on April 17th. This will also be part of our selection process for the Olympiad.
Our Telekom indicated interest and support to chess development in the country especially with the hybrid, online chess development.
