Facilities Management
Focus on the national facilities in Honiara as the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) is providing facilities. To ensure that they last for future generations, are sustainable and accessible. Promote sports tourism so we can see top class sport locally while also helping to prepare SI teams to compete internationally.
Development
Broadly sport and recreation development – including developing coaches, creating an education and training offer for coaches, facility managers, team managers, event organisers, turf management, community recreation and supporting sport and recreation in the provinces – specifically 3 in 2024. To train people to run programmes in communities and schools along the lines of "fun and games” to get active and then build to sport as an organised and regular activity and then to form provincial sports associations (affiliated to the national federations) and provincial sports councils (linked to the provincial administration and NSC)
High performance athlete development
NSC provides high performance support to athletes and coaches through their National Federations. Services include:
- Sports medicine and science – including but not limited to strength and conditioning, sports psychology, sports nutrition, and sports physiotherapy.
- Coach assistance – helping coaches to develop individualised athlete programmes, including the introduction of sports technology to optimize the collection and use of athlete data.
