Anti-doping
Why play fair?
Many athletes, and their coaches, want to find a competitive advantage to help you go faster, train longer, recover more quickly or be stronger depending on your choice of sport. The best way to attain this competitive edge is by eating well, keeping yourself properly hydrated, using reliable recovery methods (i.e. rest and good quality sleep), using appropriate and measured training techniques and a lot of very hard work.
This means training every day in preparation for your big competition nationally and internationally.
However, some athletes try to take short cuts and end up crossing an ethical line by taking banned substances or using banned methods. If you make this choice, then you are at risk of the following:
- A maximum four-year ban from all sport
- Irreparable damage to your reputation and sports career
- Not being considered for employment in the sports sector
- Damaging the reputation of your national federation as well as country
- Putting your health at risk. Read more about the health effects of doping
It is best to do your research before putting anything into your body as the athlete is always held accountable.
